           MIRAGE - The Sheboygan Herald of last week has the
        following: "A fine mirage was seen from this shore of
        Lake Michigan on Wednesday afternoon, by several of
        our citizens. The Michigan shore seemed to rise up be-
        fore the eye of the observer, and several times appeared
        quite distinct, and then faded from view. Ships near
        this shore seemed to move with astonishing swiftness
        with reference to the distant shore. We are also in-
        formed that both shores of Lake Michigan recently
        appeared plainly visible to the officers and passen-
        gers on the Messenger, when that steamer was out an
        hour and a half from this port."
