Saturday, 15 November, 1873

         The name of the sailor lost from the schooner Challenge
       when she sunk in our harbor on Tuesday evening, was MARTIN
       MAHONEY, a resident of Racine, where he leaves a wife and
       child. He was about 55 years of age, and had sailed with
       Captain Young, the commander, for about fifteen years. It
       is not known just how he was drowned. When the rest reached
       the pier he was missing. His body has not yet been recovered.
