WILSON VANCE The Green Bay Advocate pays this tribute to the late CAPT. WILSON VANCE. "The death of CAPT. WILSON VANCE is announced as having taken place at Denver, Col, on the 10th inst. He had been a confirmed invalid for some time past, and had gone to Colorado in the almost forlorn hope of regaining his health. CAPT. VANCE was for years one of our favorite bay captains. He began here with the steamer Sarah Van Epps, on the Escanaba and Green Bay route, and was thence transferred to the propeller Wash- ington, a steamer brought from the ocean here and placed on the same route. He afterwards commanded the propeller Bartschy, in the ore trade between Depere and Escanaba. His health gradually failed, and he was finally quite prostrated by the death of his young wife, something more than a year ago. He went to Florida, and thence to Colorado, seeking help, and now has succumbed to his fate. He was a genial, companionable man, and an effi- cient seaman, and beloved by all who knew him.
