ECCLES, SR., a respected citizen of the village of Casco, Kewaunee county occurred in that village on Thursday, July 5th. MR. ECCLES had just left home with his horse and buckboard, and had proceeded but a short distance when a bolt which held one side of the shafts came out, and the frightened horse became unmanageable and started upon a run. Unfortunately, only a short distance ahead was a bridge across a small ravine, upon reaching which the buckboard lurched to one side, and stricking some obstruction, the unfortu- nate man was thrown over the bridge upon the rocks and stumps four or five feet below with great vio- lence. His arm and collar bone were broken, and his skull was fractured. He was picked up immedi- ately and notwithstanding these terrible injuries he walked with assistance to his residence. A phy- sician was at once dispatched for from Ahnapee, but before he could arrive the unfortunate man was dead, having only survived about an hour after the accident. Deceased came from Milwaukee and had lived in Casco four or five years. He was about 50 years of age, but was a hale, well-preserved old gentleman. ===========================================================================
