The Western Historical Company A. T. Andreas, Proprietor - 1881 [429] D. BURKE, general merchandise, came when a boy, with his parents, to Kewaunee County. At the age of eighteen he com- menced teaching school; taught in Pierce, Ahnapee, and Sturgeon Bay. In 1876, he built the Alaska House, in Pierce Township, this he managed and owned till the Spring of 1879, when he sold that property; afterward removed to Kewaunee. In the fall of 1879, he established this business. Married MISS EMILY, daughter of CONRAD MEYER, of Pierce Township, one of the wealthiest farmers in this county. They have three children - two daughters and one son. ==========================================================================
