Smiley & J.C. Zimmerman, the Supts. of Poor of Green Co. Wis. & Churchill Dodge & Soper, the Monroe Planning Mill Company of Monroe, of the same County & State, in manner & form following: The said Churchill Dodge & Soper, for the considerations herin after mentioned, promise to the said Superintendents of Poor of Green Co., that within the space of five months next after the date hereof, they will in good & work man- like manner, and according to their best art & skill, at the County Poor farm of said Co., well & substantially erect a building, to be used as a Insane Asylum for said County, and finish the same according to the draught or scheme & specifications, drawn by Wm M. Wright Archt. of Monroe, which plans & specifications are annexed herunto, and which describe the building as of the following dimensions: 68 ft. lg x 34 ft. wide, and 2 stories high, the lower story to be 10 ft high between timbers, and the upper story to be 9 ft 10 in. high between timbers; the same to be done within the time aforesaid and to the satisfaction of the afore named Superintendents; and be it distinctly understood, that where-ever the specifications should not minutely describe any part of the building, such part shall be made & construct- ed according to true intents and meaning of the plans and specifications without extra charge. And the said Churchill Dodge and Soper do also promise & agree, that they will find and provide such good, proper and sufficient materials, of all kinds whatsoever, as shall be suitable for erecting said building and completely finishing the work. In consideration whereof the aforenamed Superintendents promise to pay to the said Churchill Dodge & Soper the sum of $6390.00 Six thousand three hundred & ninety dollars in the manner following: Two thousand Dollars at the deliver of this contract; Two thousand Dollars, when the building is en- closed, And Two thousand three hundred & ninety Dollars when the building is completed.
