He came with his parents to Wisconsin in 1857, and settled at Maxville, Buf- falo county, where the family lived for many years. About six years ago he moved to Menomonie with his widowed mother, and has since made his home here. He served as Undersheriff during Sher- iff GEORGE'S administration, and was re-appointed by Sheriff SEVERSON at the beginning of his term last January. No county every had a more faithful, vigilant, efficient and conscientious officer than MILTON COLEMAN. He was a man of exemplary character, sterling integrity and won the friendship and es- teem of all by his quiet and unobtrusive manners, genial ways, and strict devotion to duty. His un- timely death, which has cast a shadow over the hearts of all, falls with almost crushing weight upon his widowed mother and his affianced, Miss ROSA U. NETT, an estimable young lady of this village, and an accomplished teacher in our pub- lic schools. Rich in all those sterling qualities of mind and heart that make a useful, upright man, MILTON COLEMAN had a bright and promising future, and it seems doubly sad that he should fall a sacrifice to duty in the morning of life. Transcriber's Note: MILTON A. COLEMAN, shot and killed in the line of duty on July 10, 1881. ===========================================================================
