        A gross ton is equal to 2,240 pounds, or 1,016 kilograms.

        A single 1,000 foot ore carrier can load 65,000 tons. To transport
        the same amount of ore by other methods you would need 624 rail
        cars (a train roughly 5.5 miles long), or 2,167 trucks.
