ELEVIER Succumbs to Cancer PHILIP E. ELEVIER died Wednesday night at 7:30 o'clock at his home, 1506 Belknap street, after an illness of many months. Cancer of the stomach was the cause of death. The disease first became manifest over a year ago. Several months ago he was taken to a local hospital where an operation was performed. The ravages of the malady continued to sap his strength and last Sunday evening he sank into an unconcious state. From that time until he died the physicians gave no hope of his recovery. It is said that MR. ELEVIER'S sufferings for the past three or four months have been great. Large amounts of morphine were injected into his system but only seemed to act as a semi-relief. MR. He came to Duluth in 1887 and for several years has been with the Superior Water & Power company in this city. His first position with that concern was as a lineman. It was not long until he had made his way up- ward and was appointed to the position of super- intendent of the electrical department, which he held up to the time of his death. He is survived by his widow and three children, TILLIE aged 18 years, WILLIAM 17 and HAROLD 5. He is also survived by his mother, MRS. C. M. ELEVIER, a brother, ALONZO ELEVIER of Ponce Park, Fla., and sister, MRS. GEO. HEHL of Portsmouth, Ohio. He was a member of the Masonic order and of the Royal league.
