He and his wife had gone down there to look after some matters con- nected with the death of MRS. SIMON'S father, and they were on the eve of returning home when the final summons came. The remains were brought here Tuesday and interred in the cemetery of SS. Peter & Paul church Wednesday, a large concourse of people turning out. Deceased was about 59 years old and had been a resident of the county for upward of a quarter of a century. He served in the war of the rebellion and was with Farragut at the capture of New Orleans and the opening of the lower Mississippi being attached to the navy. He leaves a wife and nine children to mourn his untimely death. All the latter except RUDOLPH and HERBERT were in attendance at the funeral. These arrived on Wednesday evening from Lakota, N.D. where they reside. ===============================================================================
