The Manitowoc Pilot
Thursday, 6 July, 1876

         Mr. B. ELIAS, one of the hotel and saloon keepers
       of Hayton, committed suicide on Tuesday, the 22d inst.,
       by hanging himself with a strap to a beam in his stable.
         No cause can be assigned except excessive drinking
       and financial embarrassment. Deceased was about fifty
       years of age, and leaves a wife and seven children.
