About 5 o'clock yesterday evening fire was discovered in the rear of the planing mill of the Brillion Lumber and Manufacturing company which soon spread and could not be controlled. In spite of the ef- forts of the local fire department the fire spread with fearful rapidity. Kaukauna came to the rescue and prevented the greater part of the village from being wiped out. The Reedsville fire department also rendered much aid. The principal losses are as follows: Brillion Lumber and Mamufacturing company's entire plant, loss $15,000. Northwestern house, loss $5,000. Hansen & Co., general store, loss $14,000 Mrs. C. A. Buxton, store building and elevator, loss $6,000 M. L. Guill, saloon fixtures and building, loss $1,500 Charles Tesch, general store building and stock, loss $18,000 A. F. Schwaller, barber shop, loss $3,500 Chicago & North-Western depot, loss $1,500 Otto Weigand, saloon building and fixtures, $3,000 C. W. Behnke, residence and barn, $4,000 The loss is only partially covered by insurance. ===========================================================================
