Born in Holstein, Germany, June 7, 1845. Came to America in 1867, going at once to Holstein, Calumet Co. On coming to Brillion, he located on a farm and worked it till 1871, when he came to the village and opened a shoe shop. In 1874 he commenced scaling logs for the Brillion Stave and Lumber Company; the mill burned down. In 1877 he learned telegraphy. In 1876 he was elected Town Clerk, which office he still holds, and became Notary Public in 1881. He has been School Clerk, also. In 1867 he married Miss AHLF, of Holstein, Germany. They have five children - JOHN D. C. (deceased), ANNIE, EMMA, WILLIAM and OTTO. Mr. THOMSEN is a member of the I. O. O. F., and belongs to the Lutheran Evangelical Church. ===========================================================================
