         HERMAN STEFFEN, harness shop and saloon, Sherwood. Born in
       Prussia, Germany, May 7, 1854. He came to America in 1863 with
       his parents, and moved to Milwaukee, Wis., where in 1872, he 
       learned the harness-maker's trade. In 1878 he moved to Sherwood, 
       and began business for himself. In 1879 he married Miss MAHLBEG, 
       of Milwaukee. They have two children.
