SCHROWEN, saloon and hotel, Hilbert. Born in Prussia, Germany, June 18, 1836. In 1857, he came to Fond du Lac Co., and from there went to Lake Superior, and worked in the mines of Michigan. He then came to Calumet Co., and bought a farm, which he carried on for nine years. He came to Hil- bert in 1877. In 1861, he enlisted in the 5th Wis. V. I., Co. K, and was mustered out in 1864. The same year he was married to Miss MARY STAFFENS, of Fond du Lac County. They have five children living - MARY, JOHN, KATIE, EMMA and FRANCEN; have lost three boys. ===========================================================================
