         J. PAULUS, lawyer, Chilton. Born in Calumet Co., June 8,
       1857. His youth was passed in Chilton. He read law with
       Baldwin & French, and was admitted to the Bar in 1878. He 
       then entered the office of French & Paulus. He went to 
       Chicago for a short time, but returned to Chilton in 1879, 
       and commenced practice, and in 1880 was elected City Treasurer.
