Born in Prussia, Germany, Feb. 12, 1822. While there he learned his trade, and in 1843, came to America, with his father and brother. He went to Erie City, Pa., and after a short stay there, he came to Wisconsin and lo- cated in Washington County, where, in 1848, they pre- empted land, the farm being in Marytown, where they lived. He moved to Chilton in 1854. This country was then but thinly settled, and he was among the first. He started the second blacksmith shop in the place, and worked on the first mill in Chilton, which is now in ruins. He is established in a good trade. In 1847, he married Miss TOOLE, of Prussia, Germany. They have five children - GERTRUDE (now Mrs. BALL), HENRY B., NICHOLAS, EVAR and ANNA. They are members of the Catholic Church. ===========================================================================
