Born in Olden- burg, Germany, July 31, 1848. He emigrated, in 1868, to Amer- ica, and came to Milwaukee, thence going to Sheboygan, and finally to New Holstein. He had a college education, having passed through the Gymnasium; circumstances, however, pre- venting him from finishing the University course. On arriving at his present home he went to teaching which he followed from 1868 to 1871, and then began selling agricultural imple- ments. In 1879, he began his present business, and is secre- tary of the Calumet County Mutual Insurance Company. In 1874, he married Miss BRADEMEYER, of Sheboygan. They have one child, ERNST. ===========================================================================
