GEORGE BALDWIN, lawyer, Chilton. Born in St. Johns- bury, Caledonia Co., in 1831. Here he went to school, and in 1850 commenced reading law with WILLIAm DICKERMANN, and afterwards with S. W. SLADE. He graduated at the Boston Law School in 1852; then went into partnership with H. F. PRENTISS in Derby Line. He afterwards acted as clerk in the custom-house. He commenced his practice in Stockbridge, Calumet Co., Wis., in 1853, with J. B. DEUEL, continuing till 1855, when he was elected District Attorney. He then moved to Chilton, and held the office for ten years. In 1877 he retired from active practice and now deals in real estate. He was elected to the Assembly in 1865, and was State Senator in 1870-1; was also County Superintendent of Schools. In 1874 he married Miss CATHERINE M. PLUNKETT, of Chilton. They have two boys, GEORGE BENJAMIN and CHARLES FREDERICK. Mr. BALDWIN belongs to both the Masons and I.O.O.F. ===========================================================================
