         Population, 1300. First settled in 1855, is an
       incorporated city on Buffalo river, and on the C.,
       St. P., M. & O. Ry., in Mondovi township, Buffalo
       county, 30 miles northeast of Alma, the judicial
       seat. It has Catholic, Congregational, Evangelical,
       German and Norwegian Lutheran and Methodist Epis-
       copal churches, 2 banks, and 2 weekly newspapers.
