L. Polk & Co FOUNTAIN CITY Population, 1,100. An incorporated city situated on the Mississippi river and on the C. B. & Q. R. R. in Buffalo county, 18 miles southeast of Alma, the county seat, 9 miles northwest of Winona, Minn., and 96 south- east of St. Paul. Has Catholic, German Reformed, Luth- eran and Methodist churches, good schools, a public hall seating 800, a bank and an ably-edited and pro- gressive semi-weekly newspaper, the Buffalo County Republikaner.
