He emigrated to America in 1853, and landed in New Orleans, where he remained four years. He made several changes after wards, and in 1860 settled in this county, and the first four years tilled the soil. In 1865, he engaged in saloon- keeping which he has continued since. His wife and daugh- ters keep a millinery establishment. His wife was Miss GENE- VEVE WIEGELE, a native of Germany. They have seven children - LOUISA, JOSEPHENE, AUGUST, JOSEPH, ROBERT, EMMA and EVE. MR. SCHLUMPF has been a member of the village Board two terms, Assessor one term, and is Justice of the Peace at present. ===========================================================================
