H. C. Cooper, Jr. & Co., Winona, MN - 1919 [page 155] THEODORE BENJAMIN ROEMER, proprieter of Beacon Light farm, in section 22, Nelson township, was born in Wabasha, Minn., June 24, 1870, son of CHARLES and CAROLINE (REISENGER) ROEMER. He grew up on his parents' farm, in Nelson township, which he left at the age of 22 years, both before and after he came to Buffalo county. In 1894 MR. ROEMER assumed the responsibilities of domestic life, taking as his wife, MATILDA MARKEY, daughter of JOHN MARKEY, and who was a native of Nelson township, Buf- falo county. After a residence at Wabasha for two or three years, they came to Buffalo county, Wisconsin, and settled on the old THOMPSON place, in Nelson township, where, however, they remained only one year, removing to the old MARKEY place, on Deer Creek. A year later they left that place and came to their present farm. The log house in which they first took up their residence has since been improved and converted into the present comfortable dwelling. MR. ROEMER has also built a barn, 60 by 34 feet, with cement floor and patent stanchions. MR. ROEMER raises good Hol- stein cattle and Duroc-Jersey hogs and is also a shareholder in the creamery at Nelson. His farm contains 116 acres and is a profitable piece of agricultural property, which is due to care- ful management and sound practical knowledge as a farmer. He and his wife have five children: CARL, INEZ, LENDA, MAY and LEONA. The family are members of the Catholic church. Transcriber's Note: The biography of his father, Charles Roemer, is found on our Wabasha county, Minn. page as it has no mention whatsoever about Buffalo County and, in fact, he is buried in Wabasha county, Minn. ===========================================================================
