H. C. Cooper, Jr. & Co., Winona, MN - 1919 [page 144] JACOB W. RINGGER, who holds the important position of butter maker in the creamery in Modena township, Buffalo county, was born in the city of Alma, this county, Nov. 28, 1886, son of JACOB and LULA (GULAR) RINGGER. The parents were natives of Switzerland, where the father was born about 1867. He is now living, but his wife died when her son JACOB W. was about seven years old. From that time until he arrived at the age of 15 years, the subject of this sketch made his home with HENRY FEHRING, of Modena township. His early industrial activities were connected chiefly with farming, but he also worked at times in creameries. To the latter business he resolved to devote his energies, and in order to properly qualify himself, he went to the college at Madison, where, in due time, he was graduated. For seven years subsequently he was employed in the Burnside creamery, this county, and then, in the spring of 1917, came to the .creamery in Modena township, with which he has since been connected. That MR. RINGGER is a master of his trade is evidenced by the fact that he has won three di- plomas for butter making. While residing at Burnside he served one year as school clerk, but resigned that position on account of being too busy with creamery work. He was married, Sept. 26, 1906, to ELIZABETH THOMPSON, and he and his wife are the parents of three children: RUSSELL, RALPH and BURT. ===========================================================================
