H. C. Cooper, Jr. & Co., Winona, MN - 1919 [page 151-152] WILLIAM O. MUELLER, who is engaged in operating a farm of 168 acres, in Alma township, Buffalo county, also owning other pro- perty, was born in Alma township, July 16, 1864, son of JACOB and HEDWEG (SCHROEDER) MUELLER. The parents were natives of Switzerland and Germany, and settled in Buffalo county in 1856, where the father engaged in farming. He died at the age of 35 years, in 1871, and his widow subsequently married LOUIS MUELLER, his brother, by whom she had one child, LOUIS R., who is now living. Her children by her first husband were: FRANCIS, now deceased; WILLIAM O., subject of this sketch; ANNA, who married CARL HAHN and lives in Nelson township, and TECLA, who married LEO FURRER, of Alma township. WILLIAM O. MUELLER resided with his parents until the age of 22 years and then began working out. For seven years he was engaged in burning lime at Alma, but spent some time at intervals in helping to clear the home farm, which he fell heir to on the death of his mother, in 1888. This farm, on which he has since resided, contains 168 acres, and MR. MUELLER also owns a tract of 20 acres a short distance away. About 40 acres of his main farm are cleared, the rest con- sisting of woodland and bluffs. MR. MUELLER does general farming, giving special attention to dairying. He is the owner of a wood- sawing outfit, but gives all his time to improving his farm, the value of which he is steadily increasing. On Aug. 25, 1904, MR. MUELLER was married to MRS. EMMA STREICH, whose maiden name was EMMA HOPF. She was born in Nelson township, Sept. 22, 1879, daughter of EDWARD and EMELIA (LEHLEIN) HOPF. Her father is still living, being now a resident of Alma. Her mother died at the age of 60 years. They were engaged in farming in Nelson township, Buffalo county, though MR. HOPF is now 75 years old and retired. Their children were: KATE, MARY, ANNA, EMMA, MARTHA and RICHARD, the last mentioned of whom is now deceased. KATE, born Jan. 2, 1863, is the wife of ALFRED GOELDNER of Alma town- ship; MARY, is now MRS. MARY STREICH of Crookston, Minn.; EMMA, is the wife of W. O. MUELLER; MARTHA, married MORRIS McQUISTION. By her first marriage MRS. MUELLER has a daughter, LENORA, who was born April 10, 1901. Of her marriage with MR. MUELLER there are two children: WILMA, born Sept. 19, 1904, and ANDREW, March 30, 1906. All the children are attending school. ===========================================================================
