They were married in Alma City and located in Buffalo county, Wisconsin, taking the farm in Alma township of which the subject of this sketch is now the proprietor. The father died in Missouri at the age of 32 years. MRS. GOBAR died Feb. 1918. They were the parents of six children: FRANK, who is now a physician, residing in California; JOSEPH F., subject of this sketch; JOHN JULIUS, a physician residing in South Dakota; GEORGE, a physician in Muscoda, Wis.; NELLIE, who died at the age of two years; and CHARLOTTE, who is the wife of E. On his father's death the farm was left to the family and was purchased by JOSEPH in 1895, since which time he has been engaged in operating it on his own account. Its area is 120 acres, of which 80 acres are now cleared. MR. GOBAR does general farming but gives his chief attention to dairying. He has a herd of good cattle, with a pure-blooded bull of the Holstein breed. He is also successfully engaged in the raising of swine. His barn is 90 by 34 feet in size, with a stone basement, and in connection with it is a stone silo. His residence, erected about ten years ago, is a commodious ten-room house. MR. GOBAR was married Nov. 27, 1890, to ANNIE LEHMAN, who was born in Belvidere township December 20, 1868, daughter of JACOB and LOUISA (ZIMMERMAN) LEHMAN. Her father, who was a farmer, died in Mondovi at the age of 81 years. Her mother, who was born Aug. 5, 1842, is still living. MRS. GOBAR was the third born in a family of eleven children, namely: LOUISA, JACOB, ANNIE, CARRIE, BARBARA, LENA, IDA, FRED, ALVINA, JOHN and EMMA. LOUISA and JACOB are now deceased. All the surviving children except CARRIE are married.
