         MARTIN EXEL, Alma, manufacturer and dealer in cigars,
       No. 141, 6th District, was born in Germany, Feb. 5, 1843.
       In 1868, he came to America, and first settled in Eau 
       Claire, and was employed as a cigar maker for nine years. 
       In 1877, he removed to Alma, and established his present 
       business. Married CLARA THEISEN, in 1874. She was born in 
       this State. They have four children - MARY, SOPHA, MATILDA
       and MARTIN.
