The fire was dis- covered in the back part of Harris' Jewelry store about 3 o'clock, and furiously baffled all attempts to stay its progress until all (except four buildings) in the entire block were burned. The following are some of the losses: Harris' Jewelry store - saved principal part of the most valuable goods. Loss rather large. Kimball's Hardware store - saved only the tin-ware; stoves all burned. Loss heavy. U. S. Hotel, Col. Edgerton - saved most valuable furniture and house furnishing goods, many of which were afterwards stolen. Loss large. Frank Desnoyer lost three large buildings. Klaus lost his fine Hall and two other buildings, one of which was occupied by him for a Toy store. Loss great. The Post Office saved contents - building destroyed. Express Office ditto. ===========================================================================
