         East Addison
         
         JOHN THOMAS died in this place the 21st.
       The funeral services were held at his late
       residence the 23d, Rev. Mr. Powell officiat-
       ing. The deceased was 77 years of age. MR.
       THOMAS leaves a wife and two sons to mourn
       his loss and a large circle of sympathising
       neighbors and friends. Interment in Monkton,
       his parents' home.
       
       
         OBITUARY
       
         JOHN R. THOMAS
       A respected landmark of the county and vicin-
       ity passed away when JOHN R. THOMAS of Addison
       breated his last Saturday morning at the age 
       of 78 years. He had been a sufferer through
       many months of illness and death came rather
       as a relief from the toil and care of life.
       A wife and two sons, JOHN C. and GEORGE, sur-
       vive and mourn him.
       
         The deceased was born in Monkton, in which
       town he resided until his removal to Addison,
       which occurred about 30 years ago. He was a
       thrifty, prosperous farmer and enjoyed the
       confidence of neighbors and community at 
       large. Most of the town offices of trust and
       responsibility had been held by him and his
       wisdom in matters of public interest was
       often used for the benefit of his town.
       
         The funeral took place Monday at 10 o'clock
       from his residence; Rev. Mr. Powell of the
       Baptist church conducting the service. The
       sons of the deceased, JOHN and GEORGE, to-
       gether with Dr. GEORGE R. THOMAS, CHARLES
       THOMAS, ARTHUR CLARK and ANDREW THOMAS,
       acted as bearers. Interment took place in 
       the East Monkton cemetery. A large number
       of friends, sympathisers and neighbors at-
       tended the funeral.
