ADOLPHUS SORRELL, was lying on a traverse at the foot of a hill, which was being pulled along the level on its upward journey. Another sled, with which were OSSIE HINDES, FRED MAYO and JOE LANDRY, was ahead and SORRELL had just jumped onto the rear traverse to ride a few steps, when a heavily loaded set of bobs, steered by LAWRENCE AUSTIN, dashed down the hill. The other boys escaped, although young LANDRY was a little hurt, but SORRELL was struck heavily in the side and badly in- jured. He was thrown some distance, rolled under the sleds and received internal in- juries. He was conscious when picked up but soon lost all knowledge of his sur- roundings. Drs. Pilon and Shipman were called and everything was done for the sufferer, but he never recovered full consciousness and died at 8 o'clock Thursday morning. The deceased was the main support of his mother, as his father is in the insane asylum at Waterbury and the case is doubly sad in consquence. - Bridport Sun, 16 Jan 1902 The funeral of WALTER SORRELL whose fatal injury was reported in last weeks' paper, took place Saturday morning from St. Peter's church. The employees of the Vermont Shade- roller company attended in a body as well as a large number of others, showing the affec- tion and sympathy felt for the deceased by the community. Father Campeau sang a requiem mass and the bearers were GEORGE MORRIS, CHARLES JARVIS, GEORGE GEE and WALTER DAIGNAULT. Interment was made in the parish cemetery. =============================================================================
