ROCKWELL, a long and favorably known citizen of Cornwall, died at his residence last Saturday morning, aged 86 years. He was in the fourth generation of those of his name who have lived in this town. He leaves a widow and two married daughters. He is widely known in con- nection with the sheep business. In conjunction with his brother, the late S. B. ROCKWELL and his brother-in-law, the late HON. R. J. JONES, he took sheep to California by the Panama Istemus route before the civil war. An extensive reader, with positive opnions which he freely expressed, he was a straigh-forward gentleman of the old school. While he was by no means an office seek- er he bore the message of his townsmen at the State capitol in the years 1858-59. More than 60 years ago he united with the Congregational church, of which he proved himself a worthy member. The funeral was conducted from the house Monday afternoon, Rev. S. H. Barnum officiating. ================================================================================
