FROST, sheriff of Chambers county disappeared about ten days ago and it was the general belief of the people from the start that he had been murdered. He went up into the south- western end of the county to serve writs of sequestration and the last seen of him alive as near Lake Superior, not far from the home of the man upon whom he served the writ. The sheriff having sworn charges of murder against CAPTAIN WILLIAM KENNEDY, his son, LEE KENNEDY, and a young man named ROBERT HEINMANN, it was supposed at once that they had killed him. They were arrested and are in jail at Galveston. SHERIFF THOMAS , of Gal- veston, claims to have secured a statement from one of the men and that he is in possession of the details of the murder; also that the three men are the murderers. SHERIFF THOMAS says that SHERIFF FROST was foully murdered and his body consigned to the waters of the lake. A party of officers have gone to the lake to search for the body. If they are guilty and proven so beyond a doubt in the minds of the people of Chambers county there is strong possibilities of the three men never living to stand trial for the dead officer was a great favorite with his people. NOTE: The body of Sheriff JOHN L. FROST was never found. With no body being found, the case against the three men was dismissed in 1902 ===============================================================================
