Oregon is located on the Pacific Coast of the United States and is bordered on the north by Washington, on the east by Idaho, on the south by California and on the west by the Pacific Ocean. The Oregon Territory was created in 1848. It was admitted to the Union as the 33rd state on February 14, 1859

Today Oregon covers 98,381 square miles of land, has 51 counties and ranks 27th in population. The State Capitol is Salem and the largest city is Portland.
