J. TALBOTT, corner of East and Scott streets. Her age was 73 years. She was a sufferer for many months and since January 10, this year, had been bedfast. By reason of her advanced years her illness was very se- vere and from the time she was forced to take her bed her illness was known to be fatal. Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church Monday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. J. W. H. Brown officiating. SARAH TALBOTT was born on the TALBOTT farm. south of Crestline, November 13, 1831. For a number of years she taught the district school near her home and also was a valued teacher in the public schools of Galion for a num- ber of years. Later she taught very successfully in Card- ington. Her father, A. TALBOTT, died in 1874 and a year later she and her mother came to Crestline to live. Her mother died in 1887 and since that time SARAH made her home with her two brothers here. Surviving her are her two brothers, J. J. and ALLEN TALBOTT of this city, and two sisters, MRS. REBECCA KERR, of Ft. Wayne, and MRS. MARY BROWN, of Winona, O. Two brothers and two sisters are deceased. The deceased lady was a member of the Friends church of Mt. Gilead but since coming to this city, as there was no church of her faith here, she attended the Metho- dist church regularly and was a devout Christian and excellent woman. For many years, while she retained good health, she was active in church and Sunday School work and her good deeds in many directions were numerous. She was of a quiet disposition but quickly made friends with those with whom she became acquainted. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Crestline Citizen Thursday, 20 April, 1905 MISS SARAH TALBOTT died at the home of her brother J. J. TALBOTT on corner of East and Scott streets, Fri- day evening, April 14 1905, after a lingering illness of six months being aged 73 years 5 months and 26 days. SARAH TALBOTT was one of the very few remaining citi- zens whose birth occurred in this locality nearly three fourths of a century ago. She was the fifth child of ALLEN and MARY TALBOTT one of nine children, and was born on the old TALBOTT farm one mile south of town Nov. 18, 1831. Her parents settled on this farm in 1827. She was a young lady of 20 when the Big Four was built through their farm. Her early education was re- ceived in the district school it was completed at the Mt. Hesper Academy in Morrow county, after which she successfully taught in the district schools of the neighborhood and in the schools of Galion and Carding- ton. Some years after her father's death which occurred at the age of 83, Oct. 6, 1874. She and her mother moved to town living together until the mother's death at the age of 89 years on Nov. 30, 1887. After that she made her home with her brothers ALLEN and JOSEPH mostly with JOSEPH. She was never married and was a life long member of the society of friends as were her parents. There being no congregation here she was a faithful attendant of the M. E. Church of Crestline. She died highly respected and mourned by all who knew her she leaves two brothers JOSEPH and ALLEN TALBOTT of Crestline, two sisters, MARY BROWN, of Winona, and REBECCA KERR of Ft. Wayne, Ind. The funeral services were held at the M. E. Church, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. W. H. Brown, assisted by Rev. Dunbar, interment in the TALBOTT cemetery southwest of town, where rest her parents re- mains. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. JONATHAN BROWN, of Winona, Mr. and Mrs. MAPLE and Dr. BROWN of Galion, MRS. ISADORA QUAINTANCE and son THAYER of Bucyrus, and MRS. CHARLES C. RING and daughter MARY of Lima. ===============================================================================
