TALBOTT, aged 89 years, 9 months and 4 days. She was the daughter of JOHN and REBECCA ROBERTS, born in Frederick county, Maryland, February 28, 1798, she was left an orphan at the age of 9 years. Nov. 25, 1819, she was united in marriage with ALLEN TALBOTT, also a native of Maryland, which union was owned and abundantly blessed of the Lord, who permitted them to live together in near affection for 56 years. Soon after marriage, she, with her husband, located at Richmond, Jefferson county, Ohio. In May, 1828, when the country was almost an unbroken wilderness, she, with her family, removed to Crawford county, Ohio, where they cleared a farm, one mile south of Crestline, on which she lived for 56 years. Three years ago she removed to Crestline, where she resided until her death. On Oct. 6, 1874, her bosom friend, the companion of her youth, in the 84th year of his age, was gathered as a shock fully ripe. She was the mother of 9 children, four having preceded her. She had 18 grand- children and 7 great-grandchildren. She was a worthy and consistent member of the Religious Society of Friends, and lived a life well worthy of imitation. Ever willing, always ready, to relieve the distressed and speak words of consolation and encouragement to the surrounding was ever her delight, while no one was ever turned hungry from her door. During her last illness, although suffering considerable pain, and at times unable to speak so as to be understood, her faith in the saving power of her Lord never wavered, and she longed for the time when she might go hence and be at rest. She passed peacefully away as one falling asleep. "Asleep in Jesus! blessed sleep." Truly her end was peace. The casket was tenderly borne by her sons and grandsons, they all being anxious to pay this last tribute of tender respect and filial duty to one who had been so loving and kind to them and whom they loved so well. "Blessed are the dead who died in the Lord from henceforth: Yes, saith the Spirit, that they may res from their labors; and their works do follow them." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Evening Telegraph, Bucyrus, OH Thursday, 1 December, 1887 TALBOTT - at her residence in Crestline, on Wednesday evening, 30th ult., MRS. MARY R. TALBOTT, in the ninetieth year of her age. Deceased was born on Feb. 26, 1798, in Frederick county, Maryland; as the name indicates, her parents belonged to the venerable society of "Friends," of which church she was a devout member. Her parents, JOHN and REBECCA TALBOTT (sic: Roberts), died when she was ten years old, and in 1815 she crossed the mountains with her brothers, on horse- back, taking about fourteen days to make the journey. In 1877 she re-crossed for the thirteenth time, making the journey in about fourteen hours, such is the wonderful pro- gress of the country. In 1819 she was married to ALLEN TALBOTT, according to the ceremonies of the Friend's church; in 1828 they re- moved to the old homestead, where she resided until the time of her death, more than half a century. Her husband died in October, 1874, at the age of 84. His father died at 89, and his mother at 103. Deceased was the mother of nine children, of whom five survived at the death of her husband in 1874 and four yet remain, her daughter Susanna having deceased only last week. ===============================================================================
