TALBOTT, an honored pioneer citizen of Crestline, died at his home in that city a little after 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. MR. TALBOTT had not been in good health for some years, and for the past two years had been incapacitated for business. For some months his death had been anti- cipated at any moment. The end was peaceful and painless. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon from the Crestline M. E. church, with services conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. W. Dowds. Interment will be made in the TALBOTT cemetery, on the old TALBOTT farm south of Crestline. The TALBOTT family were pioneer citizens. JOSEPH J. TALBOTT was born on the farm near Crestline in the year 1834, being at death in his seventy-fifth year. His boyhood was spent in the usual manner of boys in frontier days on the farm. He was married in 1819** to MARGARET ANN PEPPARD of Crestline. To them were born six children, of whom four are living, and with their mother are left to mourn the death of a loving and indulgent husband and father. In the early days of Crestline MR. TALBOTT lo- cated there, and was one of the first yard con- ductors on what is now the Pennsylvania railroad. After retiring from the railroad service he en- gaged in the lumber and coal business, and was for a long period associated with his brother ALLEN in the milling business. In later years he conducted the TALBOTT laundry with his son. MR. TALBOTT was a man of high character, and of pure and upright life. He was respected by all who knew him, and held the warm friendship of a wide circle. He met with many misfortunes, but kept al- ways cheerful and courageous, and was an exemplary and public-spirited citizen. Many friends will mourn his death, and extend their sincere sympathy to the family and relations. MR. TALBOTT was a sincere Christian, and for many years an influential member of the Methodist church. A good man has been called into rest, and it can truthfully be said that his community is the better for his hav- ing lived in it. His memory will long be cherished as a sacred treasure in many hearts. **NOTE : Married in 1859 ===============================================================================
