LAVINA BROWN, widow of the late CHARLES A. BROWN, and a sister of SAMUEL EASTERDAY, of Crestline, died at the home of her daughter, MRS. GEORGE ECKSTINE, in San- dusky township, Sunday, March 30 in the sixty-seventh year of her age. Her maiden name was LAVINA EASTERDAY, and she wasa born in Chatfield township, April 25, 1852, her parents soon removing to Vernon township. On Jan. 24, 1871, she was married to CHARLES A. BROWN, and by this union there were twelve children, nine of whom survive, eight sons and a daughter: WILLIS of Bucyrus, CHARLES ALBERTUS and MILTON F., of Sandusky township; WALDO F., of Billings, Okla., Capt. CARL. A., of Bucyrus; FLOYD E., of Sandusky town- ship, DORA, married to GEORGE ECKSTINE, of Sandusky township, E. J., a student at Huron Road Hospital, Cleve- land, and SAMUEL E., of Company A, who has been fighting in France, and reached American soil Monday morning, where with him the rejoicing of return is saddened by the sorrowful news of his mother's death. Orders had been issued to discharge SAMUEL E. BROWN, at the earliest possible moment after his arrival, to permit him to return to the bedside of his ailing mother, but death outstripped the incoming transport, and Private BROWN learned on arrival in New York Mon- day morning of the death of his mother as his trans- port was steaming toward Sandy Hook and home, Sunday. Besides the children she leaves a brother and sister, SAMUEL EASTERDAY of Crestline and ROSANNA, wife of JOHN SMITH of Shelby. There are fourteen grandchildren. The funeral took place on Wednesday at 1 p.m., from the home of MILTON F. BROWN in Sandusky township, with burial in the Sandusky township graveyard, Rev. F. H.
