It seems that an inmate of the County Infirmary, a woman by the name of GOODRICH, had been in- terred a day or two previous in the cemetery at that place; and the fact having been com- municated to inmates of the Cleveland Medical College, two persons - by the name of MILFORD WHITE and F. W. DAYKIN - went down to Ashta- bula Saturday afternoon, hiring a horse and wagon of a livery-stable keeper named FULLER, for the purpose of going to Kingsville, say- ing that they should return in time to take the early train back to Cleveland. The parties had left a trunk at the depot, which they did not seem willing that any body should handle except themselves. FULLER'S suspicions were at once aroused and he gave orders to have the two men closely watched on their return. In the meantime two police officers had been notified of what was taking place, and took up their position at the depot. Early Sunday morning they returned, having the trunk with them. At a given signal the Cleveland gentle- men were informed that the trunk would have to be searched and if on examination it was found to contain nothing of a suspicious character they would be allowed to go on their way rejoicing. At first they manifested a willingness that the search should take place. but afterwards "caved," and acknowledged that the trunk contained the remains of a corpse, which proved to be that of the woman GOODRICH. They were at once taken into custody, and an examination held before JUSTICE RICHARDS, the accused being held under bonds of $500 for their appearance at the County Court, Drs. J. C. HUBBARD and E. L. KING acting as bonds- men. The feeling in Ashtabula county is in- tense, and a general desire manifested that these human vultures should be punished to the extreme limit of the law. ===============================================================================
