         LYNCH LAW IN ONEIDA COUNTY
                             Utica, N.Y., June 17 1866
                             
         A mob, variously stated at from 50 to 100 persons,
       visited the premises of the notorious Loomis gang, in
       the town of Sangerfield, early this morning, and burned
       the house, barn, &c. Plumb Loomis and a man who has
       been in the employ of the Loomis family were each strung
       up several times until confessions were wrung from both
       of them. Plumb Loomis now in the Madison County jail.
       The rest of the gang are given 30 days to leave the vi-
       cinity.
