Wednesday, 1 November 1865

         On Monday night a family near Utica, named LOOMIS,
       who have long been notorious for evil, were mobbed,
       one of them killed, and another mortally injured by
       a supposed Vigilance Committee from the towns of
       Marshall and Sangerfield. No arrests had been made
       up to 6 o'clock last night, though much excitement
       existed in Utica and throughout the country.
