         A man named JOHN PERKINS, and a negro, working
       in a hay field, in the town of Sangerfield, Oneida
       co. had some altercation together, where upon the
       former seized a scythe and killed the negro.

         Utica, Oct. 14
         
         The trial of JOHN J. PERKINS, for the murder of
       SAMUEL ISAIAH, by cutting him with a scythe while
       mowing, in the town of Sangerfield, is progressing
       before the Circuit Court. The evidence looks bad
       for the prisoner.
