For the past two years he has been in poor health, suffering a great deal with his heart, but up to within a few days ago had been able to be about the house and out of doors and apparently strong. In the death of MR. COTTON this vicinity loses one of its oldest residents, all of his life having been spent here. MR. COTTON was born in Cottons Corners 87 years ago and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. COTTON. In 1841 he married Miss MARY ADAMS of Canastota who lived until 1869 and was survived by one son, CHARLES and one daughter, MRS. J. E. HOLLISTER. Later he married MRS. EDWARD R. SIMONS, widow of the late ED- WARD R. SIMONS of Chittenango Station, who survives him. MR. COTTON lived for over 55 years on the old COTTON homestead at Cottons Corners but for the past two years has lived on the Lakeport road at Chittenango Station. Up to two years ago he was engaged in farming and always known as an excellent farmer, industrious and prosperous and widely known throughout this part of the country. He was a good citizen and a splendid neighbor. Two sisters, MRS C. C. COOPER and MRS. ABNER SCHNELL of Canastota also survive. The funeral services will be held from the home on Satur- day afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, the Rev. J. Elmer Russell officiating. Burial will be made in Oakwood cemetery. ===========================================================================
