G. Masten, the find- ing of his hat, covered with blood, &c. In our second edition we briefly announced the finding of the body by Harbor Police. From all that can be gathered the case seems to be one of accidental drowning, and not of "foul play." The deceased, when last seen alive was lying mich intoxicated in the ferry-way at the foot of Chicago street, and the natural inference is that he rolled off into the creek. There were marks of one or two bruises about the face, but these were probably received from a fall, and could not have been of a serious character. The money and other "portable pro- perty" which he had about him before his death, was found upon the body. Coroner Vaughn took charge of the body and had it conveyed to Fogerty's morgue, where an inquest will be held today. ALSTON is said to have stopped (sic *shipped) at Chicago, where he is believed to have had a wife and family. ===============================================================================
