He received a good education and had just taken his final examination for Yale when he was compelled by the death of his father to forego a full University course. Leaving his studies, he assumed full charge of the affairs of the WHITE es- tate, taking personal control of the erection of the WHITE Building. He is a trustee of the Buffalo Savings Bank and is a man of strong executive ability and sound business principles. As a National Guardsman, Mr. WHITE has a highly creditable record. Entering the 65th Regiment as Second Lieutenant, he rose to the rank of Captain, and was a member of GOVERNOR ODELL'S staff. During the Spanish-American War he participated in active service with his regiment at Camp Alger. In 1905 Mr. WHITE, on account of pressure of business, resigned from his regiment. During his period of service with the 65th, he was for a number of years Inspector of Rifle Practice, being himself an expert marksman. He is also a lover of sports and a well-known clubman, being a member and Treasurer of the Saturn Club, a member of the Country Club and President of the Buffalo Automobile Club. May 26, 1898, Mr. WHITE married ANNIE DUNBAR, daughter of GEORGE H. DUNBAR, of Buffalo.
