WATSON SUYDAM, a respected and prosperous farmer of Fleming town, to commit suicide today. The deceased arose at 4:30 o'clock, his usual hour, and went to the horse barn. An hour later his son, FRED W. SUYDAM, visited the barn. His father lay on the floor, dead. A two ounce phial which had contained carbolic acid and burned flesh about the old man's mouth told what had caused the end. Coroner Smith and Drs. Bucklin and Hoxsie were summoned, but they could do nothing, excepting that the Coroner held an investigation and rendered a verdict in accordance with the facts. MR. SUYDAM was 62 years of age and was the owner of one of the finest farms in Cayuga County, located about five miles from the city on the Scipio Center road. He was formerly an agent for D. M. Osborne & Co.'s harvesting machinery, and during one of the Cleveland administrations he was postmaster at Fleming.
