CATHERINE K. BACON, wife of CHARLES BACON, a merchant of this place, committed suicide while suffering from temporary de- rangement. For several years past, MRS. BACON has been in poor health, and during the past year her mind has been affected at times. When she was thus suffering she had threatened to take her life, but mem- bers of her family had cared for her, and it was not known that she was suffering from one of the meloncholy attackes yes- terday. "When MR. BACON returned home at noon for his dinner he found that his wife was not in the house, and a search about the premises failed to reveal her presence. Securing the assistance of the Rev. Mr. Martin, the Presbyterian minister here, he started to make a more thoro search. The looked along the Canaseraga Creek for some distance and her dead body was found in shallow water, not a great dis- tance from the village. "The coroner was called and the body was ordered removed to local undertaking rooms. Later it was taken to the home of her son, WALTER BACON. It was learned that several families had seen MRS. BACON going in the direction of the creek shortly after 10 o'clock. It was after 1 o'clock when the body was found. She has apparent- ly placed her coat on a fence post by the side of the stream and then plunged into the water. "MRS. BACON was about 60 years of age and is survived by her husband; one son, WALTER BACON, and several brothers and sisters. She was a member of the Union Church. The funeral will be held from the home of her son, Wednesday after- noon, and interment will be in the Canaseraga Cemetery." ===============================================================================
