It appears that an old feud existed between two negroes, WILLIAM MAYO and PETER LANE, and that some time ago they had a serious difficulty, when the former received a severe cut over the eyes. They met last night near the state house, and collided, when the latter drew a pistol and fired on MAYO. The ball entered his left breast and passed through his heart producing death in a few minutes - too soon for any communication to be made by the dying man as to the circumstances connected with the trans- actions. - Progress. ===========================================================================
