The Spring term of the Superior Court for Forsyth county adjourned Monday. There were one hundred and sixty two cases on the criminal docket, embracing almost all crimes from Assault and Battery to murder. The following are a list of the more important cases disposed of; State vs. ANDY TAYLOR, murder, not guilty. State vs. SQUIRE PARSON, embezzlement, guilty, two years in penitentiary. State vs. SQUIRE PARSONS, false pretences, guilty, same judgement as above. State vs. SAM KELLY, larceny, guilty, five years in pententiary. State vs. R. W. WESTMORELAND, bigamy, guilty, five years in penitentiary. State vs. C. R. ROYAL, guilty, one year in penitentiary. State vs. FRANK GIBSON, guilty, two years in pententiary. State vs. IKE BECK, retailing, six months in jail. State vs. LINDSEY DALTON, larceny, not guilty. State vs. A. H. NELL, larceny, not guilty. In addition to these cases, which were the most interesting, there were fifteen convictions for assault and battery, seven for affray, four for fornication and adultery, two for trespass, two for keeping disorderly house, four for retailing, one for bastardy, and one for failing to pay Drummers tax. A. L. PAYNE, the Indian doctor was convicted of an assault and battery in three cases. In the first two he was required to pay $20 and costs, and in the last judgement was suspended on condition that he leave forever the County of Forsyth. The women also who were indicted and convicted for keeping baudy houses were required to leave the State. Several defendents were also acquitted. Business was dispatched rapidly and the verdicts of the jury were approved by the Court, as being correct. Judge MONTGOMERY and Solicitor GLENN deserve credit for the rapid manner in which they transact business by so doing they save a great deal of costs to the county. =========================================================================== If you've reached this file through a SEARCH, you can access more of our growing collection of FREE online information by going to the following URL: http://www.us-data.org/ ===========================================================================
