H. SCOTT, one of the oldest and most respected residents of Granite county, died the other night at his home in this city after a lingering illness. MR. SCOTT was born in Elizabeth, Pa., November 6, 1830. He was one of a family of 12 children. His father, COLONEL JAMES SCOTT, was an officer in the war of 1812, and was a member of the first Pennsylvania legislature. MR. SCOTT came to Montana in 1865, but, a short time later, was called home by sickness and death in his family. He had formed, however, an af- fection for Montana, and in 1894 he re- turned to the state, where he has since made his home. MR. SCOTT is survived by his widow, three daughters and two sons, all of whom were with him at the time of his death. The daughters are MRS. C. A. BIRD and MRS. F. E. MASON of Missoula, and MISS PEARL SCOTT of Phillipsburg. The sons are PAUL and W. C.
