Deceased was born in County Cork, Ireland, in the year 1842. Emigrating to this country when nine years of age, he first settled near Columbus, Wis. When the Civil war was declared, MR. FOLEY enlisted as a private in Co. A, Second Regiment, Wisconsin Infantry, serving his country for three years. He received an honarable discharge at Madison, Wis., on the 30th day of May, 1864. In 1868 he decided to go farther west and made settlement in Birch Cooley, Renville county, residing in the township con- tinuously for the past fifty years. MR. FOLEY was united in marriage to Miss MARY DESMOND on Feb. 13th, 1871. Surviving are his wife, five sons: CORNELIUS of Valley City, N. Dak.; DENIS, DANIEL, JOHN and WILLIAM, of Birch Cooley, and three daughters, MRS. J. B. DOLAN and MISS MARGARET of Hopkins, and MRS. JOHN BOYLAND of Bird Island; also three brothers: PATRICK of Anoka, Minn., WILLIAM of Columbus, Wis., and TIMOTHY of Van- couver, Wash. The funeral took place from the Church of the Sacred Heart, Rev. Father Condon officiating. Interment at Birch Cooley Catholic cemetery. ===========================================================================
